Wallaman Falls in Queensland is the highest permanent waterfall in Australia. Being Australia's tallest waterfall (single-drop waterfall), this falls drop 305 meters / 1,001 ft.
A drive from Townsville to Wallaman Falls can take up to 2.5 hours.
Wallaman Falls is a part of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. You can find many endangered plants and wild animals at this UNESCO world heritage site, such as Cassowaries! Also, you can enjoy the following:
- Moderate Wallaman Falls hike to the falls (2 hours return)
- Lovely picnic area with picnic tables, BBQs & toilets
- Wallaman Falls camping area
- Ample free parking at the lookout & near the picnic area
The Wallaman falls lookout offers stunning views that the kids will remember forever!
The Wallaman Falls walk from the lookout & carpark is a 4 km walk down to the waterfall's base. It's absolutely worth the effort!
Imagine standing at the base of the falls with the kids and feeling the refreshing mist on your faces as you take in the stunning beauty of Wallaman Falls, QLD.
Please note that the return climb could be challenging for the younger kids, especially when it's hot. Alternatively, you can take the kids via the drive through the Cassowary territory!
Swimming and dogs are not allowed at Wallaman Falls.
